J.K. Rowling on Failure And Imagination

January 4, 2011

J.K. Rowling on Failure And Imagination.

After I saw the Oprah Winfrey interview with J.K. Rowling I knew two things for sure. 1. THIS is why Oprah has been as successful as she is.  She knows how to LISTEN, to share and to delve into areas that others may not want to go.  She has an intuitive sense about her that reaches out to certain people and allows them the freedom to speak about things they may not normally have spoken about.  2. J.K. Rowling is a gift.  Her ability to take those thoughts that poured into her head one day while sitting on a train (young boy, with lightening bolt scar on head learns he is a wizard…) turn it into a story and then translates that into a industry, is a woman who, despite her own internal fears, delivered and persevered until the story became tangible.  A story that has spanned a generation of readers, spawned a generation and beyond of young readers and inspired adults to pick up a book that their child was reading, and find themselves a child again, draped in the magical world of storytelling.

And here J.K. Rowling continues to inspire others.  Enjoy.
